Conspiracy Theory

I am not a big conspiracy person. I think, for instance, that man really did land on the moon, that Lee Harvey Oswald shot JFK all by his lonesome, and that all the Jews who worked in the Twin Towers were not given a secret phone call not to report to work that day.

Having said that; I have been reading some shit lately that have been really unnerving me. And it has to do with our military and the people fighting the war for us in Iraq. One of the stories I picked up thanks to some other bloggers in the AfroSphere, had to do with how the government is lowering the standards to recruit people into the armed forces; and how more and more white supremacist gang members for instance are signing up. Then, as it turns out, recruiting for African Americans in the Army is dropping big time. Memo to all brothers in Iraq, watch your back! You ain't Pat Tillman, and you see where he ended up.

And speaking of Pat Tillman; I read about how he might have been really killed in Afghanistan, and how the Army might have covered it up. Frankly, that scares the shit out of me. I mean if Pat Tillman, a genuine American hero by all accounts, can be a victim of fratricide, all because he allegedly was against the war in Iraq; then who isn't in danger? I mean all bets are off in this bitch and that scares me.

And let's not forget about our friends at Blackwater-the name alone sends chills up my spine-You know Blackwater don't you? Dick Cheney's private little freaking Army down in Virginia. Which I swear if Congress gets out of line he is going to turn them loose on Washington. They call themselves a "professional, military,law enforcement security company", but that beauty is in the eyes of the beholder. They have been known to do all kinds of shady shit in Iraq, and they are growing. Right now they are the most powerful mercenary army in the world, and if I was the leader of a country like say, Cuba; I would be very worried right about now. Why? Because the folks at Blackwater could overthrow your Third World ass quicker that you can say, cigar. Jeremy Scahill, in a brilliant You Tube piece (don't ask me to link it, just google Jeremy Scahill) calls Blackwater a shadow army, and he is right.

So what if these guys-Blackwater -decided, for instance, that a certain segment of the population (Yes woozie here it comes) were to get out of line? What if all of a sudden, they decided there were too many Michael Vicks, too many out of control inner city gangs, and Barry Bonds just can't be allowed to break that record? Couldn't they just declare Martial Law on all black folks? They could call all the Blackwater boys home from Iraq to control all the blacks here. Hey, have you seen the racial makeup of Blackwater? So don't go laughing just yet. The shit could happen I promise you.

This is why I get so worried when I see my peeps acting up, cause I know that there is always that other army ready and waiting to put our asses in check. I can hear Dick Cheney now to the Blackwater CEO: "Hey there buddy this is Dick. Yeah, it's time to put operation "Colored Control" in place. Yeah, we just can't let this go on any longer. We are losing our country to these people. Besides, we don't even need them for sports anymore. The Japanese are getting really good at Baseball, and the Eastern European players are getting better than they are at basketball." OK that may be a bit far fetched, especially for a guy who doesn't believe in conspiracies that much, but hey, you never know. As a matter of fact,I think they have already kidnapped poor Colin Powell. And has anyone seen Condi lately?

What do you see?

OK I have got to know what you all think about this picture.

Are we talking about racism, or just a dumb and clueless advertising executive again?

This picture could be like one of those psychological tests. You know the one where they show you a jumbled picture which could show a different image depending on what you want to see.

Personally, I see a bunch of field Negroes bowing down to "Charlie". I see that the black male is good for athletics and playing sports, and the white male is holding the office thing down.

But you might see something different. You might see young, strong, and agile black men. Ready to perform at an optimum level in the office environment, just like the software product that Intel is trying to push.

I wonder what the f**k the creator of this ad. saw?

Thanks Dani over at Truth Seekers for sending me this picture.

Thoughts from a Philly funeral home director.

I caught this story in my hometown paper, The Philadelphia Inquirer:

Her name is Charlene E. Wilson-Duffoney, and she is an African American funeral home director here in Philly. Sadly, few people are in a better position to see the effects of violence on our young people out here than she is.

Anyway, here are a few quotes from Ms. Wilson-Doffoney which I think are noteworthy:

"At the service for a teenage boy,someone decided to play a rap song calling for avenging the dead. The teenagers stood up as if it were the national anthem." She went on. "Mothers stood and swayed." She said that she, along with the clergy, and the school district officials present, were "all shocked at what they saw."

She also says that she remembers a funeral "where gunmen opened fire outside the church. People hid under pews." She said.

"And she has a friend whose son was shot, and to this day won't tell his mother who shot him." She said that "'she finds that unbelievable.'"

"She says that 'some deaths get to her more than others'. One friend was murdered in the 1990s at a bar. He had told her that he knew he would be shot to death one day. It was eerie when he wound up in her funeral home , having died just that way. "

"'He died on his birthday' she recalled, a tear running down her face. She buried him."

Mothers stood and swayed for a rap song avenging the dead? WTF?

Another Alleged Rape On Campus

I have been trying to find out more about this story before I posted on it. But I can't get anything other than what everyone else already knows, so I will give you my thoughts.

Unfortunately, It seems there was another alleged rape on another upper crust American college campus. This time the alleged rape occurred at Villanova University -or as I like to call it; Vanilla-Nova-which is located on the "main line" section of my hometown of Philadelphia. Now for those of you familiar with Philly, you will know that the main line is Philadelphia's equivalent to Beverly Hills, or West Palm Beach, if you get my drift.

As the story goes, three randy freshman football players did indeed have sex with a college coed in one of the dorms, while they should have been learning their play books and getting ready for the rigors of college life. (What the hell is wrong with these kids? Rape or no rape, could you keep your dicks in your pants until you have played one home game at least?) Now here is what bothers me about the whole story: After an internal college investigation all three men were booted off campus and their football scholarships rescinded. Coach Andy Talley, who has been at Nova since 1985, says he spoke to all three of the players and got their side of the story. I for one am really curious to know what that story was. And, I hear the Radnor police won't be pressing criminal charges because the victim in question does not want to press charges. And frankly, without the victim's cooperation in these cases you have zilch. So why isn't the victim pressing charges?

Now let me say for the record; that if these young men did rape this young lady, she should press charges, and they should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law for their alleged criminal behavior. See, I am consistent, I felt that way about the Duke case too. Oh, did I say the Duke case? Well so far the only similarity this case has to that one is that they both occurred on a college campus of the privileged, and multiple athletes are being accused of rape. I wish I could tell you about some of the racial similarities, but every one is clamming up on this one. I mean everybody. The local press, the University, the families involved, everybody. Even my contact in the prosecutor's office out there isn't saying anything about these individuals. So what does that tell you? It tells me that they don't want bloggers like the damn field Negro making a racial issue of this. After all, it was just an unfortunate incident with some college students right?

Boy I sure hate to speculate....but....hey, we will wait to see what happens. Somehow I doubt the victim involved here will press charges, and somehow I doubt the players involved will make an issue of it, because they are not being charged criminally. They will pack up, go home, and hope for another chance somewhere else. And the alleged victim will chalk it up to a bad experience, go on with her life, and just hope it all goes away. Kind of like those Dukies wish that stripper had done in their case.

Let's hope that this is the last of me blogging about this, although somehow I am feeling like Arnold in the Terminator when he said: "I'll be back."

Cats & Dogs

What a week for cats and dogs folks. The dog tales haven't been so good to listen to, but the cat tales; now that's a different story.

I say that because of this particular cat tale that caught my interest. It seems there is a little feline in Rhode Island named Oscar, who, how should I say this; has a knack for smelling out the Grim Reaper.

I must confess that when I first heard this story I was a bit sceptical. But as the day went on, I found out that it was a serious news story and the shit was all true.

Seems Oscar, who lives in a nursing home, curls up with the home's patients during their final hours. And get this, old Oscar is so accurate with his predictions, that the staff at the hospital will call the victims...ah the patients... ah curleees...well the chosen ones family to inform them that their loved one has only a few hours to live. All because Oscar came calling, or should I say curling. Don't laugh, Oscar has been accurate in 25 cases already. "This is not a cat that's friendly to people" says some hot shot Doctor who is studying Oscar's behavior and has written about it in the very respectable New England Journal of Medicine. The staff noticed Oscar making his own rounds. "He would sniff and observe patients, then sit beside people who would wind up dying in a few hours" Can you imagine? "Ohh look at the cute little kiddie cat. No Grandma DON'T!"

But seriously, before you go thinking that these poor old people have to live in some form of tortured dread just watching Oscar every night, they don't. Apparently, the patients Oscar curls up to are usually so sick that they don't even notice that he is there. Still, it has got to be a little spooky to be working and living in The Steer House Nursing and Rehab Center with old Oscar around. "Good morning everybody. Oh shit here comes Oscar, I gotta go!"

Can you imagine if we let old Oscar loose on the streets of Philly? The poor feline would go crazy just trying to figure out where to go next for crying out loud. But hey, maybe we can put him in the White House? I kid I kid.

What if

The boys, both 13, and their parents say their actions were inappropriate, but not criminal, behavior. If convicted, the boys face the possibility of jail time. The judge in the case has barred the boys from returning to school.

Cory Mashburn and Ryan Cornelison, both 13, were arrested in February after they were caught in the halls of Patton Middle School, in McMinnville, Ore., slapping girls on the rear end. Mashburn told ABC News in a phone interview that this was a common way of saying hello practiced by lots of kids at the school, akin to a secret handshake.The boys spent five days in a juvenile detention facility and were charged with several counts of felony sex abuse for what they and their parents said was merely inappropriate but not criminal behavior.The local district attorney has since backed off -- the felony charges have been dropped and the district attorney said probation would be an appropriate punishment. The Mashburns' lawyer said prosecutors offered Cory a plea bargain that would not require him to register as a sex offender, which the family plans to reject.But the boys, if convicted at an Aug. 20 trial, still face the possibility of some jail time or registering for life as sex offenders.The boys' families and lawyers said even sentencing them to probation would turn admittedly inappropriate but not uncommon juvenile rowdiness into a crime. If they are convicted of any of the misdemeanor charges against them, they would have to register as sex offenders.

"It's devastating," said Mark Lawrence, Cory Mashburn's lawyer. "To be a registered sex offender is to be designated as the most loathed in our society. These are young boys with bright futures, and the brightness of those futures would be over."Cory Mashburn said he and Ryan Cornelison slapped each others' and other kids' bottoms every Friday. "Lots of kids at school do that," he said.Cory and Ryan were brought to the principal's office Feb. 22, where they were questioned by school officials and a police officer. They were arrested that day and taken in handcuffs to a juvenile detention facility.Court papers said the boys touched the buttocks of several girls, some of whom said this made them uncomfortable. The papers also said Cory touched a girl's breasts. But police reports filed with the court said other students, both boys and girls, slapped each other on the bottom."It's like a handshake we do," one girl said, according to the police report.The boys were initially charged with five counts of felony sexual abuse. At a court hearing, two of the girls recanted, saying they never felt threatened or inappropriately touched by the boys. The judge released the boys but barred them from returning to school and required that they be under constant adult supervision.District Attorney Bradley Berry has since dismissed the felony counts. The boys face 10 misdemeanor charges of harassment and sexual abuse. They face a maximum of up to one year in a juvenile jail on each count, though Berry said there was no way the boys would ever serve that much time."An appropriate sentence would be probation," he said. "These are minor misdemeanor charges that reflect repeated contact against multiple victims. We never intended for them to get a long time in detention.""We're not seeking major penalties," he said. "We're seeking change in conduct."'We Just Want This to Be Over' Tracie Mashburn, Cory's mother, said they will not accept plea and plan to fight the charges.The arrests, critics said, reflect a trend toward criminalizing adolescent sexual behavior. Between 1998 and 2002, juvenile arrests for sex offenses other than rape or prostitution rose 9 percent -- the only kind of juvenile arrests that rose during that time, according to the Bureau of Justice Statistics."More and more, they are criminalizing normal adolescent or preadolescent behavior," said Chuck Aron, co-chairman of the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers juvenile justice committee.Even probation, the Mashburns and their attorney said, would be too severe a punishment.Julie McFarlane, a supervising attorney at the Juvenile Rights Project in Portland, Ore., said, "Probation for a sex offense is very difficult thing, and there's a pretty high failure rate." Failing to meet the terms of probation could mean the boys would be sent to jail.Depending on the terms of probation, it's likely that the boys would not be allowed to have sexual contact with anyone or any contact with younger children, McFarlane said. For Cory Mashburn, that would mean he couldn't be left alone with his younger siblings.

"It's been awful," said Cory's mother. "We just want this to all be over. But it will never go away. We'll always remember it."Berry, the district attorney, said the victims -- the girls who were touched -- were being overlooked. "What's been lost in this whole thing are the victims, who have been pressured enormously by these boys' friends," he said.Cory, who said he now realizes what he did was inappropriate, spends his days playing video games and basketball. He said he's scared. "I could go to jail. I could be registered as a sex offender," he said. "I think it's all crazy."

Alright so you read that story with me, and I know what you are thinking: "Field, you know damn good and well that if these were little black boys you would be all over it." You would be screaming Jena 6 all over again, and bemoaning the state of out of control prosecutors.

Well guess what; you would probably be right. When a white co-worker, familiar with my blog, e-mailed me this story today, that's exactly what he was saying. I fired off a response to him about getting over it and welcome to our world, something to that effect and went on with my day. But now.... I don't know. I mean am I a hypocrite for not calling out an out of control prosecutor just because the individuals being unjustly accused are white? It's just one of those soul searching moments I guess. I asked myself tonight; what if these kids were black, would I, along with the Afrosphere and Afrospear, be taking up the cause like we did the Jena 6? I don't know, would I? I would like to think it wouldn't make a difference. I mean injustice is injustice no matter who it is against, Right?

But then again, the more I think about it, the more I realize that these kids don't need me to advocate for them. They have an entire race of people. People like the ones who came out for the Duke lacrosse players, and like my colleague who e-mailed me the story. They have the power of the press: Talk radio, FOX NEWS, opinion pieces, guest commentators, CNN, the nightly news on every major network, and on and on. Folks like the Jena 6, and Genarlow Wilson, only have a few outlets: Black bloggers, a benevolent white T.V. producer, or one of the camera loving Reverends. So you will excuse me if I want to tell those stories over say the story of these poor boys up in Oregon.

"But come on field what if they were black; wouldn't you be all over the story even more than you are now?" OK let me answer that for you; yes I would!

Short take

Staying with the T.V. Land theme, I am writing to praise and not be cynical about American pop culture this time.

In my humble opinion, the Start Trek T.V. series was groundbreaking. Here was a space ship with a crew that included an African American (Uhura), an Asian (Dr. McCoy), and an alien. (Take that Lou Dobbs) Now that bad boy would have been diverse if it was made in 2007 let alone 1966.

Yeah I know those Trekkies can be kind of nutty; but you know what, they can afford to be, because in Star Trek, they chose a pretty good product to embrace.

Besides, that damn Uhura was kind of hot!

Since I am speaking for all black folks

I hereby declare that OJ, Michael Vick, and Mike Tyson ware all innocent of whatever crimes they were charged with committing. And the Duke lacrosse players really did rape that girl, and Bill Clinton did not have sex with that woman... and, well, you get the picture.

Please listen up white folks, I do not speak for all black people, so please stop sending me e-mails about the shit I write and equating whatever I say to world wide black thought! The shit is flattering but trust me, there is quite a medley of black thoughts and ideas out here besides my own.

Now don't get me wrong; I wouldn't mind being the official spokes person for black folks that you would trot out there on CNN and FOX NOISE every night--- lord knows we could use some new ones. But I really don't think my views would be a true representation of the Negro in America. For instance, I know that most black folks are good church going Christians; while I am not sure if there really is a big guy up there playing puppet master with our every move. And if he is up there, does he want us organizing into different teams like the f*****g NFL? I just don't know. I think most black people really love America and consider themselves a part of it. Me, on the other hand, would just as soon open up the borders to the South and North of us, and make this bitch the United States of North America. Yep, world citizen, that's me. I live here, but I think the shit that happens at the UN is just as important as the shit that goes on in Washington. And I love the whole Declaration of Independence thing, but I just can't get over the fact that the people who wrote it weren't quite practicing what they were preaching if you get my drift.

So I hope I made myself clear; when I write I write about the shit I see, and the way I view the world; not as your typical Negro in America. And I suspect that if you were to read the writings from some of these wonderful black blogs on my blogroll, you would get some fascinating perspectives from each of the individuals writing in them as well. I think that these individuals would all tell you the exact same thing; that they are not speaking for an entire race of people. So my advise to you would be to engage them as individuals, listen to their concerns, and take it from there.

The Victimology Game

"You running and you running but you can't runaway from yourself.." ~~~Bob Marley~~

I recently saw a 2004 article from the National Review while googling "black bloggers" on the web. The article was by some guy named Dan LeRoy and it was basically a praise job of conservative and right of center black bloggers. No problem with that, if you know anything about me you will know that I encourage opposite points of views on damn near everything. One of my favorite writers on the net is a guy named Cobb, a conservative from the left coast. I met the guy, and I found him to be a decent person who really cares about his race. So I totally embrace the notion that black folks aren't monolithic, and it really bothers me when right wing black folks try to imply that their voices are being drowned out by those of us with dissimilar views.

The language that these right wing black folks use to describe other blacks who are to the left of them always pisses me off as well. They throw around words like "defeatist", "victimology", and "victimhood". And they swear that left wing progressive black folks always play that role. Personally, I am tired of hearing it, and my question to them would be this: Is someone being defeatist if they want black people to work harder and be more self sufficient? Are they playing the victim role if they want white America to be accountable for past injustices to their ancestors and older family members? Are they succumbing to victimology, if unlike their right wing brothers, they don't want to depend on the majority population and the crumbs from their table? I don't think so. And I don't think it's playing the victim role at all to demand accountability from a country that claims to be the greatest democracy on earth.

Black conservatives remind me of a girl I dated once.(Stay with me on this analogy) She was from a very poor family; single mother, brother doing hard time, older siblings on welfare, the whole nine. On the other hand, she was a hard worker, did very well in school, and ultimately ended up getting a law degree and working for a very large law firm. Girlfriend got hers and never looked back. She was always admonishing me for caring so much about black causes and things that effect black folks. She said it's because I never had it as hard as she did so I could never understand the hard work that it took to get out of her condition. "No" she said "If those other black folks want to make it they can. Just like I did, look at my family and what I made of myself; what's stopping them from doing the same thing"? And I always tell her; "the same thing that could have stopped you. They didn't have an even playing field from the jump, you were lucky because you just happen to be an extra hard worker". Of course our relationship didn't last too long. Too many fights, and too much of me pulling her back into something she just wanted to get away from. I think that's how right wing black folks see us, and thus the victimology tag. Most of them, I suspect, come from circumstances where their families had some serious struggles, and some people would have considered them victims, (look at Clarence Thomas) and like Catholic alter boys, they are trying to suppress those bad memories. That's why when field Negroes like yours truly comes along to remind them what and where they are running from, it really pisses them off.

So no my conservative black friends I am not a victim, and neither are you. But our ancestors and those who came before us were, and America still suffers from its effects. Actually, I take that back, we are all victims; not just right and left wing black folks, but until we get this shit right; you can include everyone else in America as well.

"TAXI TAXI TAXI!"

I had an interesting conversation with a friend of mine last week. I have been meaning to blog about this, but I have not been able to get around to it until tonight.

First, let me give you some background: My friend happens to be an engineer with a large consulting firm here in Philly, and she recently got an assignment to work with Honeywell down in Baltimore. Last week, after completing a job, she was waiting outside of her hotel with two white male colleagues for a cab to take her to the train station. I think you know what happens next, but I will tell you anyway. Both of her male companions hailed cabs and went on their way. My friend; not so lucky. She insisted that empty cab after empty cab kept passing her by as she waived her hands. When an elderly white lady came outside and actually hailed a cab before her, she actually went up to that particular cab driver and asked him what the problem was. The man, she said, drove off like he had seen a ghost.

Frustrated and pissed off, she went back into the hotel to complain about the cab situation. She said the young African American at the front desk knew immediately what was going on. She had a concierge hail a cab for her, and she was finally on her way, barely making it to her train on time.

But this is where the story gets interesting. With all due respect to Danny Glover, according to my friend; every one of the cabs was being driven by a black man. And not just any black man, according to her, they all seemed to be Africans or foreigners. -not sure how she could tell that but I will take her word for it- So when she finally got into the cab she asked the cab driver what gives with the lack of love from the Cabbies. He explained to her that the Cabbies don't like picking up blacks, because they complain about the meter moving too fast too much. Besides, he said, they are bad tippers, and they sometimes take the Cabbies to dangerous areas, where many have been robbed and shot. He himself was shot once before he told her. So she is telling me this, and she confesses to me that she actually felt sorry for this particular Cabbie, even though at first she had every intention of cursing his ass out when she went in his cab.

"I mean come on field isn't that sad?" she was preaching now,"I mean our own people?" "I guess so" I told her. "I really don't know what to say about that. Hey, that's why I don't take cabs. Maybe on your next assignment you can ask your company to just rent you a car." "Naw Field, I hate driving around in strange cities, I am stuck with the Cabbies." I actually felt sorry for her. " Well I tell you what; how about letting your white colleagues hail your cab for you before they take off the next time?" "Yeah good idea Field, we have actually done that before, but it just makes me seem so helpless, like I can't even get a cab for myself".

I left it at that; I didn't have the heart to tell girlfriend that in certain situations she probably can't. And this time I can't even blame whitey.

Frat boy please get well soon!

Today was an extremely busy day for me. Of course there was my usual case load and the back and forth of my daily grind. Then I found out that the frat boy was getting a colonoscopy tomorrow, and since he was going to be under anesthesia for a few hours, he would be transferring the power of the Presidency to Vice President Dick Cheney.....so anyway, this is when my day got really busy. I immediately started checking air fares down to my native Jamaica on the Internet to see if I could at least spend the weekend on the rock. The fact that I am writing this post from my crib in the cradle of liberty, also known as Killadelphia, should tell you that I couldn't quite get a flight--too small of a lead time and too expensive. So as much as it pains me, I decided it wasn't worth it.

So sadly folks, like most of you, I will be in America tomorrow when dead eye Dick takes over. Of course it won't be the first time. Cheney was President for two hours back in 2002 as well. Only the second time in our history that the little known Presidential Disability Clause was invoked. (Memo to people who think that the frat boy is dumb; he is not. Why do you think he keeps giving power to Cheney every time he has a bad cough? It's to let us know what could happen if he something happens to him. Now that's genius in my book)

So I am bracing for tomorrow, and I don't mind telling you folks that I am scared. Just think, Cheney could invoke some type of Martial Law and start rounding up all dissenters. He could give Scooter a full pardon, he could invade Iran, hell, he might even cancel all "Saved By The Bell" reruns for crying out loud! No more Lark Voorhies? How could the republic survive?

Seriously folks, I don't know how well I will sleep tonight. Just knowing that the man with the dark heart will have access to that little red telephone which can trigger Armageddon for even a few hours, gives me the creeps. I never thought I would say this; but frat boy please get well soon!

Michelle Malkin the lier! (or "liar" for woozie)

Michelle Malkin and her right wing loony friends are all liers! Here is why:

Remember the story of Air Force Senior Airman, Jonathan Schrieken, who was shot in the driveway of his Willingboro New Jersey home by a man named Matthew Marren? If you don't, you probably don't read right wing blogs or listen to right wing talk radio. This case became a cause celebre for all the "wingnuts" from California to Maine. They declared that Schrieken was shot by an anti war nut who wanted to kill a military person on the 4th of July. They based their Twilight Zone worthy assumptions on a note that was found in his car, and an aunt who said that the shooter wanted to make a statement on Independence Day. They went on to lambaste and excoriate the New York Times, and the main stream media (God I hate that phrase) for burying the story. And Malkin, the forked tongue one (literally...think about it) declared: "Now imagine the scenario flipped. What if a soldier had attempted to murder a peace activist over the holidays in order to make a statement?" This ignoramus went on to declare in her post; that if this happened, "the Times would be holding a front page vigil, and Katie Couric's brow would be furrowed for a week,"

Now, as it turns out, the right wing spoke a little too fast. Here are some facts: The shooter did not know Matthew Marren from the man on the moon, and he certainly did not know that he was in the military. (Schrieken was not in uniform when he was shot)The Prosecutor in the case said that; "Marren's final words were rambling, and there was no mention of the military, the war in Iraq, or the victim being a soldier." The Prosecutor went on to say that it was an act of "random violence."

Not good enough for Ms. Thing and her crazy ass crew of right wing nut jobs. God forbid some guy with mental problems just decides to shoot a stranger at random, and then take his own life. Nope, Malkin and her ilk had to create something, they had to stir up more division, and create an anti war bogeymen when there really was none.

"Turns out the guy left a couple of suicide notes stating how much he hated the military and he wanted to go out making a statement, so he chose to make his statement on Independence Day trying to kill a soldier." Michelle, that's a lie, and you know it.

This is one of those times when I hate the fact that this blog is not more popular, because tonight I am calling out Michelle Malkin, and unfortunately, she won't even know it. If she did, she would know that I dare her to back up all the statements she made about this case, and to debate me on its issues and merits-we can do it over the net or in person, I think I could stand to look at her for a few minutes; just a few- I dare her to prove the ignorant and nescient statements she made on her blog, and to back up her sky is falling bullshit with some facts.
But it won't happen, because Michelle and her wingnut friends will be chowing down on crow for the next few weeks. And I guess it's kind of hard to debate someone if you have a big ass crow stuck in your mouth.

Dog days for Mike.

No truth to the rumor that Nike dropped Michael Vick and Hush Puppy picked him up......I know white folks that wasn't funny.

But seriously, if this story with Vick and the dogs is true, he is cooked. America will never forgive him! He would have had a better chance of redemption if he had killed his wife like another famous football player did. I have blogged on the issue of white folks and their pets before, and if you thought I was lying, watch how this Vick thing plays itself out.

On my to work this morning it was all over AM radio stations, and I am not just talking about the sports shows. One guy actually called in and asked for the "death penalty" if it could be proven that Vick actually trained dogs to fight.

Now let me say for the record, I love dogs; If I had to make a choice between a dog and a cat it wouldn't even be close. They don't call them "man's best friends" for nothing. Still, I just don't get it with A-merry-ca and animals. There is so much hypocrisy involved with this entire situation that it's almost laughable. I can hear Joe "Sixpack" over the dinner table now: "Honey can you believe what this jerk did to those poor animals? The man should be put under the jail; how can you do that to a poor dog, another living thing for crying out loud? Ahhh could you pass the steak for me please?" Context America, context.

Sorry, I live in a city where 222 human beings like me have been murdered so far this year; so you will excuse me if I don't lose any sleep over Micheal Vick's fucking dogs.

Decisions decisions.

I was recently reading some comments from a fellow black blogger (Not sure who, it might have been AA pundit) about the need for black bloggers to organize and come together around one of the Presidential candidates. Now personally, I deplore most politicians. I view them in the same light that I do used car salesmen, IRS agents, and right wing radio talk show hosts. But I also value my right to vote, and I understand the hard work and struggle that many before me went through to give me that right. So I will be voting come this next Presidential election, but sadly, I just don't quite know who I will be voting for yet.

I do know who I won't be voting for. It won't be a third party candidate--wasted vote, and I sure as hell won't be voting for one of the "usual white male suspects" from the rethuglican party. That's an easy call for me. I like to consider myself an independent politically, but those damn rethuglicans make is so hard for me to stay that way. I mean even after being invited, those ass holes (except for one) didn't have the decency to attend and address the NAACP convention. I guess they figured they would have turned off their base if they did. God forbid they address a room full of black folks. The fear of it alone was probably what scared them all away. And I am not even a big fan of the NAACP, but they are the oldest civil rights organization in this country, and they have hundreds of thousands of members, so they certainly deserve more respect than these assholes gave them. I hope the next time one of those black Republicans comes around, you let them know how their party really feels about us, and tell them to kiss your black ass.

So anyway, that was a serious digression; back to my point. Since I won't be voting for a third party candidate and I sure as hell won't be voting for one of the angry white men on the red side; it looks like I might be stuck with one of the Democrats. Now I have heard them all, and unfortunately they all sound alike to me. It's honestly kind of scary. I suppose it's a D.C. thing to just keep promoting the status quo. That's why it would be great to have black bloggers and voters demanding accountability from these clowns. We need to demand that the politicians address the issues that matter to us. Issues such as black on black crime, the need for better funding for educational programs, and proper affordable health care for all Americans. We need to get their attention somehow, and it will take more than just punching away on our keyboards everyday to do it.

I see Obama is addressing shit that effects black folks like the Genarlow Wilson case, and that's a good thing. And John Edwards has been pretty consistent with his focus on anti poverty initiatives. So they both are on my radar, and I always listen a little more closely when one of them states a position or makes a public pronouncement these days. Sorry Francis, I am still not feeling Hillary just yet. I just can't get past her flip flop on the Iraq war, and her slick attempt to weasel out of her fickle convictions. Still, it would be nice to see America join the 21st Century and elect someone besides a white male as President.

So my fellow black bloggers I am with you on this one. We need to get behind one of these ponies and ride him (or her) all the way to Pennsylvania Avenue.

Finally, speaking of political organizing. I think the Yearly Kos convention is coming up in early August. I know, because the Kossacks have reached out to bloggers of color about attending; even offering assistance to get some of us to the convention. A condescending act in of itself. (We have to help the poor black folks) Maybe I shouldn't be so critical of Kos, I suppose that is an admirable thing to do, especially since the"Yearly Kos" convention is usually whiter than pit row at a NASCAR race. So hey, every little bit of color will help I guess. A little input from the dark side. Let's just see how serious they take us. Honestly, I don't have a problem with those black bloggers who will choose to hook up with the Kossack crowd. If they do it to help get someone in the White House who will better address our issues, that's cool. As long as they don't forget that at the end of the day; most of those Kossacks ain't any different and are just as clueless on matters of race as those on the other side of the political spectrum. They might be "progressive" but when it comes to progress on issues of race, they are still living in the dark ages.

"You aint all the way black"

As someone who loves to speak uncomfortable truths myself, I have to say that I have no problem with Gary Sheffield when he speaks his mind. Sheffield is to baseball, what Francis Holland has become to the blogosphere. I love the guys honesty, his blunt talk, and the way he can straight stroke a baseball. Believe me, as a long time Detroit Tigers fan (don't ask how) this is important to me.

So Gary Sheffield has been "stirring the pot" again. This time by calling out the Yankees and their Manager, Joe Torre, for their double standard when it comes to their treatment of black players. Sheffield, because of his abilities as a player, and because of his veteran status has been acting as an unofficial spokesperson for the African American players in Major League Baseball . His comments about the passive Latin players and baseball's more willingness to deal with them, was also controversial and drew criticism from a majority white sports public tired of hearing about race. They wish the talk of race in their beloved sports world would just go away like one of Sheffield's home runs deep into Tiger stadium.

But why should it? Why shouldn't Sheffield be able to speak his mind? Every great athlete who makes a Brinks Truck load of money can't be like Mike, or Magic, or, for that matter, Tiger. No, some people in America,regardless of how much money they make actually call bullshit when they see it. For the record, I despise Michael Jordon as a person. I think he is a sellout, and is someone who turned his back on his people so that little white boys in Iowa can have his posters on their walls, and little black boys in inner city America can kill and rob each other for his $150 branded sneakers. Now he spends his retirement running from golf course to golf course gambling away his money, and playing O.J. (think about it) from one resort to another. He and his side kick, the round mound of buffoonery, also known as Sir Charles, are beloved by white folks because they never say things to really make them (white folks) uncomfortable. Charles tries from time to time, but he is viewed more as a big joke, and is never taken seriously by anyone who listen to him. Sheffield, on the other hand, is viewed as an "angry black man" ---at least that's how one local sports talk show described him today--- and thus he makes white folks uncomfortable. The response to his statements are often swift and vitriolic. "The guy makes millions and he is still angry, Sheffield should just shut up and play, he makes good money what is he bitching about, he makes more money that I will ever see in my life, and I am white." (God forbid a black man does that) Nothing puzzles white folks more than a black man who makes a lot of money but still bitches about inequities in society. To them, money is the great equalizer and should cure all woes real and perceived. Sheffield was confronted with another popular comeback when the uncomfortable issue of race is raised. Well if the Yankees are so bad why is it that a black player -Derek Jeter- gets the mega star treatment from them. (If America is so bad for black people how come Oprah is so rich?) Sheffield's response was that Jeter wasn't "all the way black", that he is both "black and white" true statements because Jeter is the child of a mixed marriage. Yet I am sure he will be pillaged for that one as well.

Now let me say for the record that I don't know anything about what goes on behind the scenes with the Yankees or Joe Torre. Sheffield said that other black players had an issue with Torre because "they weren't treated like everyone else". They were called out and "disrespected" while the white players weren't. This may or may not have been true. But I will say this; if it is true I wouldn't be surprised. What, cause they are the Yankees they are above racism? Bullshit! When it comes to racism everybody is a fucking suspect.

So keep speaking your mind Mr. Sheffield, no matter how uncomfortable it makes people. The other field Negroes out here have your back, and we are glad you make other people uncomfortable. Hell they should be, America is an uncomfortable place, and baseball is as American as apple pie.

Short takes

Someone recently suggested -- I have been getting lots of those lately-- that I make my posts a little shorter and leave room for a little more interaction and comments from the readers and fellow field Negroes.

Tonight is a good night for me to take some of his advise, because I really don't have much to post about....well , there is one thing: I was watching TV Land, and I was wondering; where are all the black people in Mayberry? And if some black folks actually moved in, do you think some of the good folks of Mayberry would have been talking about them in Floyd's Barber Shop? Do you think Aunt B and Andy would have moved? And finally, Could you have blamed them if they did?

I heard somewhere that Mayberry was based on Any Griffith's hometown of Mt. Airy North Carolina. Ironically, Mt. Airy is the name of the most diverse section of Phiily. Coincidence? I think not.

"Look Andy; black people!!!"

Pimps On The Pulpit!

This morning as I slide into my usual spot to get my morning jolt of java, I notice a USA Today sitting on one of the tables in the coffee shop. For some reason on this particular morning, the good Lord led me to a used paper that was on the table. So I opened it for a quick read. To my dismay and surprise, right there on page 5A, was a full page ad. taken out by a group of charlatan's masquerading as men (and woman) of God, who call themselves the "High Impact Leadership Coalition."

Now if you have not gotten today's USA TODAY, I urge you to run out and get it. (My only regret is that I am posting these comments so late.) Because I guarantee you that when you see what these pimps masquerading as preachers have done, you will be as pissed off as I am.

Now if you know anything about me, you will know that I have some serious issues with the latest wave of black preachers in America. I have blogged about it here before. I think that far too many of them are about self and not the communities and the congregations that they are supposed to be serving. Many of them are in bed with sleazy politicians (on both sides of the political spectrum) who pay them well to sell out their people and their God.

In this particular full page ad., House Negro and White House Lawn Jockey, Bishop Harry Jackson, along with his merry band of sellouts, are actually declaring their opposition to S-1105, which happens to be a hate crimes bill. You see it's like this; in their twisted demented world, a hate crimes bill is not necessary because we already have laws on the books to cover hate crimes.--I won't bore you with all the legal reasons that this is a bunch of bull shit-- They parrot the conservative and Bush lines when it comes to hate crimes; "hate crime laws will punish thoughts and not actions." They call the proposed legislation; "suspect, unnecessary, unfair and un-American." Really? "Un-American" to protect disadvantaged people and minorities from mother fuckers in this country who would just as soon lynch or beat them to death because they happen to be black or gay? Yeah yeah yeah, I know that black folks are supposed to be seriously homophobic, and most of us are not supposed to really care what happens to a bunch of Gay people. But let's keep it 100%. Many of the Gay people in the black community are deep in the church. So don't you see the irony in all of this? Careful there Bishop, you might not have a choir come Sunday morning.

But that's alright Bishop, I am sure that you want to be able to preach about things like the "unbiblical behavior" of gays and those with different lifestyles without it being considered hate speech. And you have even declared that some of these laws have already been used to "muzzle the church". Well guess what; if you are on the pulpit preaching hate, your ass should be muzzled. But that's just me. I happen to think that preachers should be more on the love side of the fence, than being on the same side with a bunch of right wing bigots, and narrow minded zealots.

A FULL PAGE AD.! I bet that shit was expensive. Which brings me to the next question; how did the good Reverend and his High Impact Leadership Coalition afford such an expensive advertisement in the first place? I guess it pays to have rich friends in high places. I just hope it was worth it. I think I nice biblical quote would go very well right about now in my post. But unfortunately, even though I am a PK, I can't really think of any right about now. Hey, I just haven't been to church in awhile.......wait, I have one. How about "Jesus wept"?

"Die N-word..."

I see the NAACP and a few well meaning folks in Motown had a rather large funeral service for the "N-word" today. I sure hope they invited everybody in America and not just the folks up in Detroit. Not that they would have come. I am quite sure that most folks in America don't believe the "N-word" is dead just yet. In fact, I am pretty sure that lots of them (Black and White) will be trying to dig old "N-word" up and giving him mouth to mouth resuscitation, or some type of shock therapy treatment or some shit.

Anyway, I was wondering; how did we kill old "N-word" in the first place? I see the funeral was in Michigan, which is where Doctor Jack Kevorkian is from. Did "N-word" have an assisted suicide? --That would have been appropriate I guess, a kind of controlled death so that we all can know exactly when he checked out. Or did he just die of natural causes? (I doubt that one) Did the NAACP just strangle or shoot him or something? I mean these are all important questions, because we have to make sure that he is dead. If, for instance, we thought we poisoned him, and we didn't give him a strong enough dosage, we could go back to the grave site tom morrow and old "N-word" would be gone. Can you imagine the headlines? "The NAACP thought they buried the "N-word" but now his grave is empty. The venerable civil rights organization has put out an all points bulletin for the "N-word" and have solicited the help of John Walsh and the folks at America's Most Wanted to help capture him." OK, I admit it, that's a bit extreme. But you have to admit that "N-word" could be hiding in plain view and no one would even notice him.

That's the thing about "N-word"; he could be anywhere. In our neighbors home, our local school, a place of business, a local grocery store, or even in our church. The NAACP will search all the usual places of course. The rap recording studios, the red neck trailer park s down in Alabama, and all the right wing and republican blogs. But "N-word" will be nowhere to be found. He is just too well connected and too influential to hide out in all the obvious places. "N-word" has friends in high and low places, and when you have that type of clout, you can hide for a very ling time. So good luck NAACP. Let's hope that scenario doesn't play out. Let's hope that you really did kill the "N-word", and he is dead and buried for good.
"Die N-word and we don't want to see you 'round here no more."

I hear you. But a word to the wise; make sure you keep checking his grave from time to time.

So easy a black man could do it.

I am going through some writers block and blogger burnout issues right now, but sometimes shit just comes to me out of nowhere and when I least expect it. This morning I am trying to watch the Wimbledon finals (which was a great match by the way) and in the middle of that sucker, one of my boys calls me to rant about the Geico caveman commercials. "Yo field, don't you think that shit is racist? " So easy a caveman could do it. You know what they are saying right?" "Ahhh no player I don't" "That the cave man is really a brother. What they are really saying is that the shit is so easy that even a black man can do it. Yo field I am telling you man that's some racism going on there, you ought to blog about that shit."

I hate to disappoint my Sunday morning caller, but I won't be blogging about that. I do, however, want to thank him for making me think about something that's always kind of bothered me. No, not the Geico commercial--- I actually think that shit is funny. But race and television commercials. Why is it, for instance, that there is always a black couple or person in damn near every television commercial? As if there is some race screening committee reviewing those bad boys before they can get on the air. Honestly, I find that shit a little unsettling, and I think it gives a false reality of race relations in America. " Oh field, you are never satisfied, if there were not enough black people on television you would be talking about the lack of black people represented in that medium. Us white folks just can't win with you people." Mmmmm, I honestly have to think about that one for a minute. Would I bitch and moan, or would I not? If I lived in the fifties when the only black folks I would see in print was on Ebony, or some national figure in Life Magazine, or the only black people I saw on television was in a freaking Tarzan movie, would I have been bitching and moaning? Yep, color me a hypocrite, because I probably would have been bitching and moaning big time.
I guess "Charlie" is in a tough spot with this one. I don't know, I just think they (The advertisers) go over board with the; we gotta stick a black person in here shtick. Two yuppie couples out on the town with no other black people in the sight. But of course one of the couples is a black one. Hey, you just can't go out on the town without your black friends. Guys out on a camping trip downing some brews before the bear comes out of the woods, yep, there is the token black guy running away (in the lead of course) with all his white pals. High class wedding reception in the Hamptons, look around a little.... there they are, the token black couple, sipping champagne in the back ground.

Hey, before you calling me a "racialist" [like that word?] I am not the only one with these issues. Apparently it's a problem across the pond; and white bloggers have noticed it when they feel that white men have been unfairly portrayed in commercials as well. So this is some deeper shit we are talking about here. Commercials are made to sell products to people, and if advertisers feel that sticking a black person in a commercial will help the product they are pushing sell better, well, that might actually say something good about us. On the other hand, if they are only doing it to be PC, and not get Jessie and Al on their ass, well then it really doesn't mean shit now does it. Especially if it doesn't effect the sales of the product.

One thing that has always bothered me is all the Cadillac, McDonald's, and beer commercials on television when there is a black awards show, or a movie about black people. Not to mention the all black cast in them. Why don't they stick some white tokens in those commercials? Do they think black folks wouldn't buy the products if they did? Or don't white people go to McDonald's?

Honestly, they need some new blood or some folks grounded in reality making all those big advertising decisions. I don't know what the problem is, especially since that shit looks so easy that I bet even a cave man could do it.

Pee Wee's Sad Adventure.

"...where im from we see a fuckin dead body everyday ..." ~~Lil Wayne~~~

While you are reading this blog you might notice that I keep the "Killadelphia" murder count on the side bar. We are averaging more than one killing a day in 07, and I suspect that before 08 rolls around we will be will have over 400 bodies in the ground . Sad as this is going to sound, I am almost immune to the daily carnage now. When it comes to the murders on our streets nothing gives me cause for pause anymore. Man shot in the head while walking to the grocery store; so what else is new? Boy shot in playground; yawn. Two people shot to death during a drive by shooting; ho hum. You get the picture? Truth be told, the streets of Philly have been redder than the paint on our love statue lately, and no one seems to give a damn. Not the Mayor, not the President, not the the people in the neigborhoods, and saddest of all; not the parents.

But today I read a story that almost brought tears to even my jaded and weary eyes. Not so much for the individual victim, but for an entire race and class of people . It happened in Camden, which for all practical purposes is Philadelphia. Camden is right across the Ben Franklin bridge and I can get there quicker from Center City Philadelphia than to my own Philadelphia home. James (Pee Wee) Coleman was shot to death with a high powered assault rifle while sitting in the back of his parked car. The police know that robbery wasn't a motive because the young man had five hundred dollars in cash in his pocket. Less than 18 hours later his distant cousin was shot and killed about a mile away. Saad Brittingham was 17 and a gun man stepped in front of him while he was riding his scooter in broad daylight and shot him twice in the chest. Thankfully, an eight year old who was riding with him escaped injury.

But back to "Pee Wee". Oh, did I mention that Pee Wee was twelve years old? Yes you heard me; TWELVE! And Pee Wee unlike many twelve year olds that you might know did not aspire to be a fireman, a doctor, or a teacher. No, on a corner right around the way from where Pee Wee was shot he was immortalized on a graffiti scared wall. "GUN BOYZ, Pee Wee 10th Street." Apparently Pee Wee had his first encounter with the law about a year ago when he was ELEVEN! Police suspected at the time that Pee Wee and two other young boys were dealing drugs.

I know you are asking all the obvious questions. Why did Pee Wee live in a car? What was Pee Wee, at twelve years old, doing with five hundred dollars in cash in his pocket? And who would want to execute a twelve year old? I will leave all that to your imagination. According to the Philadelphia Inquirer, Pee Wee was living in his car because of a rocky relationship with his twenty six year old mother. Yes you read that right; TWENTY SIX!

Now here is where the other members of the village dropped the ball. Apparently officials weren't sure if he was living with his mother, the Camden school officials could not confirm if he was in school, and the state Division of Youth and Family Services have never encountered him. So tell me folks, what type of society are we living in? I mean even by Philly and Camden standards the story of Pee Wee is pretty f****d up. So who do we blame? The institutions of the village or the mother that brought Pee Wee here? A mother who was more than likely overwhelmed with the burden of motherhood, and left it up to the streets to raise her child. And trust me, these streets are mean. Even for a twelve year old...no, I take that back, especially for a twelve year old.

According to the Philadelphia Inquirer, some neighbors in the Camden area where Pee Wee was from said Pee Wee was generous. Just hours before he was killed, Pee Wee bought six frozen treats for some of the young kids on the street. No one would say where Pee Wee got his money, but still the neighbors "deplored the violence and drugs" in their neighborhood. Memo to neighbors; I guarantee you that if you get rid of the violence and drugs in your neighborhood you won't have anymore Pee Wees running around with pockets full of money. But I can't put all the blame on the neighbors. Or, for that matter, Pee Wee's mom. We live in a country where a dog would have had a harder chance of falling through the cracks than Pee Wee, and where we care more about the Sunnis and Shites than the people in our own cities. We need a "surge" here too. A surge of funding for inner city programs, a surge of resources to train these parents out here, and a surge of great practical ideas for law enforcement. That's the kind of surge I would love to see. When that surge starts working, I am sure the "Killadelphia" murder count will be much lower.

On another note: Thank you my fellow Negroes and honorary Negroes in these fields for keeping me going during my bout with blogger burnout. Your e-mails and comments of encouragement have been just what the blogger doctor ordered.

Thanks again you'll. You'll are my peeps for real :)

"Yo Field; you be slippin dog!"

This is what a co-worker and (I think) a fellow field Negro told me this morning as I headed into my courtroom plantation. "You gettin 'sof' on that web site of yours dog. I am not feeling the passion like I used to. If I want to read about love and all that current events sh** I will go to one of them other web sites, or the evening news or some shit." Dude is more preaching than talking to me at this point. And since he is one of a handful of people at my 9-5 who know that I blog as the "field Negro" I am a little irritated at fam cause he is kind of putting my shit on blast. " Come on Field you gots to start bringing the noise again Dog, or I am going to drop you from my must read list." "Yeah I hear you; hey, I am just in a slump that's all." "You lucky your shit is usually on point, so I am going to cut you some slack this time, but don't let your shit get 'sof' on me again dog." I am walking away and I hear dude laughing in the background, and I can't even look back at his ass.

Now as much as I hate to admit it, the guy has a point. I don't know if it's Bush fatigue, blogger burnout, or what. But lately I haven't been feeling any passion for writing how I really feel about shit. I know that I have been really fed up with my fellow bloggers out here as well. People who are supposed to be crashing the gates, but who are acting more like gatekeepers. Especially bloggers of color who I expect so much more from. ( I am including myself in this group). Like dude said; we "have gotten sof". I know I am probably suffering from a form of blogger burnout, but what's up with everyone else? Are we all flaming out at the same time? I know African American Pundit posted about this and our apathy towards Katrina a few days back. And my first instinct was to say; who the f**k is he to tell me what I should and shouldn't blogging about, and he doesn't know how many times I have blogged about Katrina? But he might have actually had a point. For him it was Katrina. But there are other grassroots issues out here as well which effect us and which we need to be addressing. Black on black crime, and the shit in Darfur comes quickly to my mind; but there are so many other issues out here which have an effect on black folks.

So yes I am slipping, just like all the other bloggers out here who are blessed with writing skills and access to the world wide web. I think we have been letting the news cycle control our thought process and not staying true to what we should be doing. I know I have.

I am going to try and post again tomorrow, and I just hope that come Monday morning fam won't be calling me out.

This 4th of July let's remember these words from Field Negro Douglas.

"Fellow citizens, pardon me, allow me to ask, why am I called upon to speak here today? What have I, or those I represent, to do with your national independence? Are the great principles of political freedom and of natural justice, embodied in that Declaration of Independence, extended to us? and am I, therefore, called upon to bring our humble offering to the national altar, and to confess the benefits and express devout gratitude for the blessings resulting from your independence to us?Would to God, both for your sakes and ours, that an affirmative answer could be truthfully returned to these questions! Then would my task be light, and my burden easy and delightful. For who is there so cold that a nation's sympathy could not warm him? Who so obdurate and dead to the claims of gratitude that would not thankfully acknowledge such priceless benefits? Who so stolid and selfish that would not give his voice to swell the hallelujahs of a nation's jubilee, when the chains of servitude had been torn from his limbs? I am not that man. In a case like that the dumb might eloquently speak and the "lame man leap as an hart."

~~~Fredrick Douglas~~~~
Sorry America, I can't wish you Happy Birthday this year. I am still pissed off about Scooter, the Supremes, the war in Iraq, and a President who thinks that you only belong to him and his friends.
Oh yeah, and I still can't get Katrina out of my mind!
So maybe next year!
No soap on a string for Scooter!
"I have concluded that the prison sentence given to Mr. Libby is excessive. Therefore, I am commuting the portion of Mr. Libby's sentence that required him to spend thirty months in prison."
And with those words the frat boy commuted the sentence of PRISONER# 28301-016 also known as I Lewis Scooter Libby. So Scooter won't be going to jail after all. God forbid a wealthy white man who rubbed elbows with those in the powerful inner circle of Washington D.C. would go to....agh! Jail! I mean every one knows that jail is a place for real lawbreakers, and not those of Scooter's ilk. So he lied under oath, and participated in secret schemes which cost over 3,400 American young men their lives. Why should these little indiscretions cause this good man to go to jail? Hasn't he and his family suffered enough? I guess the frat boy was just waiting for the Federal Appeals Court to shoot down Scooter's latest appeal and make that 30 month prison sentence inevitable. Hey George, what happened to all those pronouncements about what would happen to people in your administration who broke the law? "Well field, Scooter still has to pay $250,000 and serve two years probation doesn't he." Yes a real dent to the pocket book. Give me a break; old Scooter will raise that money in about a week from his rich Republican friends and cronies. If you had bet that Paris Hilton would go to jail and Scooter wouldn't, then please shoot me an e-mail, I actually know a bookie or two.
"Others point out that a jury of citizens weighed all the evidence and listened to all the testimony and found Mr. Libby guilty of perjury and obstructing justice. They argue, correctly, that our entire system of justice relies on people telling the truth. And if a person does not tell the truth, particularly if he serves in government and holds the public trust, he must be held accountable."
Yes but what is a jury of citizens to you frat boy? The rule of law obviously means nothing to you and your peeps. You smear a CIA agent, trample on the Constitution, and even form a fourth branch of government right under our eyes. And still we do nothing. Honestly folks, when will outrage begin? When are people of conscience in this country going to rise up and say; enough!
And I am not talking about the phony ass Democrats on Capital Hill, like Nancy Pelosi, and Harry Reid. We know they have to show faux outrage, and issue all the right statements with the perfectly placed talking points. I am talking about everyday people who just shrug their shoulders and say; "oh that's just George being George. Yes he is a f**k up, but he is our President and we are at war, so we have to support him". Well that's bullshit, and I guarantee you that we might not think the behaviour of these corrupt and unconscionable people might have an effect on us, but it does. Don't for a minute think that these thugs out here on these streets can't read the news and see what's going on. How do you tell them to stop breaking the law when they see it being broken in the most powerful office in our country with no consequence? When you try to talk to these kids they throw that shit right back at you. They tell you straight up how stacked the justice system is against certain people, and how certain people will always have a get out of jail free card at their disposal. They will tell you how these people will continue to do unlawful shit because,well, this is America, and everybody breaks the law in America. Some people are just more slick when they get their gangster on, and they have a frat boy getting their back.
But I will give it to the frat boy, he has big ones. I mean way to shake your dick at the American people there George. Hey, what the hell, they already don't like you, how much lower can your polls go. That's the way to sure up your base, and throw them a bone. And I must admit; it's a smart move on Karl Rove's part. Now all those Republican candidates won't have to answer that embarrassing pardon Scooter Libby question anymore. As the Guinness guys would say; Brilliant!
Sex On My Mind.
It's Saturday Night and I am doing a little channel surfing, ESPN click, CNN click, TV One click, HBO click....wait HBO...OK, on HBO they are showing this feature called "Real Sex" and there are these people (I won't say their race)at this kind of sex farm pretending that they are all farm animals and doing all types of role playing with kinky sex acts and shit........Oh hell no! Enough of this. Hey, they can do what they want to on the farm, but that doesn't mean I have to watch it.
Then I head to my computer to read a few blogs, and maybe post a comment and I read this over at "Rachel's Tavern". Seems America has a fascination with interracial sex. Rachel makes some good points about the real reason behind the fascination with Bobby Cutts, and the Duke lacrosse case etc. On the Bobby Cutts thing I think I have to agree with her. Because of the name of my blog and the nature of some of my posts you should see the hits I get when people google words like nigger, negro, and anything that has to do with black folks. Lately with this Bobby Cutts thing I have seen quite an uptick in these types of searches, and I suspect that part of the outrage with old Bobby has to do not only with the fact that he might have killed this poor woman, but also with the fact that he was letting his "black snake" make her moan from time to time. Yep, it's a fascinating thing when race and sex intersect in America, and I am sure it makes for an interesting debate and discussion about us on many levels.
So anyway, then I surf over to my girl dnA's blog and I read this about black folks and how we compare to other groups when it comes to getting our groove on. I am not sure what to think of this, after all, we all know about the stereo types of the oversexed black bucks, and the promiscuous black females. ("Why Halle have to let a white man pop her to get an Oscar") So I don't know if beating other racial groups in how many times we have sex or how early we started is a good thing. Besides, I think white people lie about how often they have sex. I don't think they count sex with someone they don't really care about as sex. ("I did not have sexual relations with that woman")Maybe one of my white friends who often reads this blog will hip me on that one, I am not too sure. I think I read somewhere that the average American male has had something like seven sexual partners in his lifetime, and the average woman has had something like four. I don't know, that seems low to me. At least for America where we are constantly being inundated with sex it does. I wouldn't be surprised if we were lying about that; I mean we lie about everything else. From Bill Clinton to Mary Housewife from Iowa City, sex is at the top of the list of things we like to lie about. (Honey how was your vacation down in Jamaica? Oh sweetie the girls and I had a wonderful time, our tour guide, Dexter, could not have been nicer, I just wish you were there dear, I missed you so much") Yeah, I know a few of those Dexters down in Jamaica, and let's just say they do as much for Jamaican tourism as those nice beaches, and a certain plant.
I wonder how many sexual partners in a life time is really normal? How many would be too much, and how many would we consider an unrealistically low number? I know I would never ask some woman I really care about how many partners she has had. "So honey I am curious; how many times have you done the nasty in your life'? "Oh field do you really want to know? ""Yeah I think so. "Really?"" Yes really". "Well, let me think about it........oh I don't know, I would say about twenty or so maybe....""how old are you again; thirty? Hey, maybe we should start seeing other people." Memo to all the ladies out there, if you have been with more than one other guy in your life, never give a number to your significant other. But there is the flip side too: "So field, how many times have you had sex in your life?"" Well do all the times with you count as one?" "Ahh yes." "Well then I would say about three times maybe....""ha ha ha ha, yeah right, you are kidding right?" "Yeah yeah, I was just kidding, that's the ticket."
Honestly, a black man can't win out here, even when it comes to something as enjoyable as sex.
I wonder how many guys have been with Lark Voorhies?
